Watch: Browns QB Deshaun Watson Gets Emotional Discussing Injury

In this story:
Deshaun Watson is out for the remainder of the 2023 season with a fracture in his throwing shoulder. When it happened on Sunday, Watson is unsure, but his new reality was as much a surprise to him as it was to the fan base on Wednesday.
Despite the injury, Deshaun too time to address the media and was open and honest about the situation.
Perhaps the most raw moment of the interview was when a reporter asked the star QB, "can you go through your emotions now that this news is settling in that you will be out this season and you will not be able to finish it with the team?"
After a long, long pause, Watson started, "It's very tough. I'm hurt about it, but I am going to keep my head above water and make sure that I stay in touch with all the guys and support them as much as I can."

It's a tough clip to watch but should put to rest all of the narratives that he just isn't tough and doesn't care to play now that he's received a fully-guaranteed contract. Watson clearly understands the implications of this injury and what it means for this team.
After completing an improbable comeback on Sunday against the Ravens, Watson stood in front of the same podium with a boot on his left ankle and told the media, he's be ready to play against the Steelers.
In the days after, the Browns signal caller started to experience a more intense pain in his throwing shoulder, a pain that led it to an MRI on Monday and ultimately this decision to shut him down for the season. The news was revealed publicly on Wednesday. He is scheduled to undergo surgery sometime this upcoming week, ahead of the team's meeting with Pittsburgh.
The news sent shock waves through the Browns fanbase and into the national media, with many pointing out that Watson played a perfect second half of football versus the number two defense in the NFL with a fractured shoulder and a high ankle sprain. He was everything that Browns fans have been waiting to see and it felt like he was finally turning the corner here in Cleveland.
All the Browns can do now is hope they catch lightning in a bottle with rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson the rest of the way, as Watson sets his sights on a return in 2024.
