The Browns offensive coordinator search continues as recently fired Eagles OC Brian Johnson is reportedly interviewing for the job on Thursday. That comes from Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com.

Johnson served as OC for Philadelphia for only a single season this past fall, taking over for Shane Steichen, who was plucked away from the Eagles to become the Colts head coach last offseason. It was the only time Johnson has held offensive coordinator responsibilities as an NFL assistant, having last held that role at the University of Florida in 2020. He was an OC two other times during his time in the college ranks with the University of Houston in 2017 and the University of Utah from 2012-2013.

Prior to the promotion, Johnson worked closely with Eagles star quarterback Jalen Hurts as the team's QB coach, helping turn him into an MVP candidate in 2022. That season ended in a trip to the Super Bowl and earned Hurts a five-year, $255 million extension from the organization.

Hurts and the Eagles cruised to a 10-1 record through 12 weeks with Johnson at the helm in 2023 before things unraveled the rest of the way. Philly won just a single game of their final six to finish the regular season 11-6, while only scoring over 20 points twice during that span. The end of the season skid ultimately resulted in the Eagles early exit from the playoffs on Wild Card weekend by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

To this point Cleveland has held interviews with three other potential candidates to fill their void at offensive coordinator since parting ways with Alex Van Pelt two last week. Seahawks offensive line coach Andy Dickerson was reportedly the first to interview for the role. The Browns have since brought in former Bills OC Ken Dorsey and Texans quarterback coach Jerrod Johnson.
