Report: Seahawks Add Pro Bowl Edge Rusher Ahead of Matchup vs. Browns

In this story:
The Seahawks are reportedly making a big addition to their defensive front ahead of their Week 8 matchup against the Cleveland Browns.
Pro Bowl edge rusher Frank Clark is expected to sign with the Seahawks, according to CBS Sports’ Josina Anderson, and could potentially play as soon as Sunday, when Seattle hosts Cleveland.
Clark, a Pro Bowler for three straight years from 2019-2021, became a free agent on Oct. 13 after he was released by the Broncos, who signed him last offseason. Clark played in just two games for the Broncos due to injury and left after it appeared the Broncos made an attempt to trade him.
Clark began his career with the Seahawks, who drafted him in the second round in 2015, and had two double-digit sack seasons prior to joining the Chiefs in 2019, where he won two Super Bowl rings. He totaled five sacks with Kansas City last season but hasn’t reached double-digits in that category since 2018.
The Seahawks’ top edge rushers up until Clark’s addition have been Dre’Mont Jones (two sacks) and Boye Mafe (four sacks). It’s not known how much Clark would play if he does indeed suit up Sunday, but it’s reasonable to expect he might only have a rotational role against the Browns, who will be starting P.J. Walker at QB as Deshaun Watson continues to rehab his shoulder injury.
It still could be an upgrade for a Seahawks defense that ranks tied for fifth in the NFL with 26 sacks this season.
