Chasing the Olympics: What's a mayor to do?

RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) The outcome of the U.S. presidential election could heavily influence Los Angeles' chances of hosting the 2024 Olympics, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti tells The Associated Press:

It's hard enough to raise the dough

To make this massive project go.

It's hard to sweet talk wealthy folk,

Assure them this is not a joke.

It's hard when Angelenos curse

And fear that traffic will get worse.

And then I'll schmooze the IOC

And tout the city's pedigree

Of palm trees, glitz and Hollywood,

And all that's dazzling, all that's good.

I'll tell the world LA's the best,

Not Paris, Rome or Budapest.

I'll say we want to light the flame.

Once more, we're here to play the game.

I'll speak of how much LA's meant -

Two Summer Games, there's precedent.

But here's what's hardest after all:

When someone wants to build a wall.
