Robert leaving Derby, to Toronto FC?

Derby County midfielder Laurent Robert is said to be set to leave the Pride Park club as he jets off for a trial with Toronto FC of Major League Soccer.

The 32-year-old winger signed on at Pride Park in January after leaving financially troubled Levante, but made just three appearances for the doomed Rams.

As such it's unlikely that his short-term deal will be extended ahead of next season, meaning that he needs to seek employment elsewhere.

Thus the former Newcastle United stalwart is in Canada in an attempt to secure a contract with Toronto FC of MLS.

The ex-French international previously represented Benfica, Portsmouth, Paris Saint-Germain and Montpellier.
