Genk goalkeeper Courtois signs for Chelsea

BRUSSELS (Reuters) -- Chelsea have signed 19-year-old Genk goalkeeper Thibault Courtois on a five-year deal worth nine million euro ($12.7 million), a record for the Belgian champions, Racing Genk said on Saturday.

Genk said they had done everything to keep Courtois but did not succeed. "We have no other choice but to accept Chelsea's offer," Genk, who won their third Belgian title in May, said on their website (www.krcgenk.be).
