Werder Bremen draws at Freiburg

BERLIN (AP) -- Cologne ended its three-game losing streak with its first victory over Kaiserslautern for more than 22 years on Sunday, Odise Roshi scoring not long after coming on as a substitute in the 1-0 win in the Bundesliga.

Roshi headed a corner past Kevin Trapp in the 72nd minute, having earned the set piece by drawing a save from the goalkeeper with his first touch of the ball a minute before.

The Albanian forward's first goal for Cologne earned his side its first win over Kaiserslautern since 1989.

Kaiserslautern's winter signing, Ariel Borysiuk, was sent off on his Bundesliga debut after earning a second yellow card for bringing down Slawomir Peszko in the 40th, five minutes after he was shown his first.

"The away win will bring self-confidence. Hopefully, now it will be a bit calmer,'' Cologne captain Geromel said.

Cologne is ninth after its first Bundesliga win since December, while Kaiserslautern remains in the relegation playoff place after its 10th game without a win.

"It's all so close down there. We still have all the chances and firmly believe in ourselves,'' Kaiserslautern midfielder Olcay Sahan said.

Peszko should have scored in the 13th, and Kevin McKenna went even closer 10 minutes later when his header crashed back off the right post in the Canadian defender's 100th Bundesliga game.

The visitors missed top-scorer Lukas Podolski through injury, but Roshi received his chance when Solbakken brought on the 20-year-old player in the 70th.

Earlier, two goals from Peru striker Claudio Pizarro weren't enough for Werder Bremen as an error from goalkeeper Tim Wiese allowed bottom side Freiburg to equalize in a 2-2 draw.

Wiese failed to stop a shot from Jonathan Schmid going through his hands and in off the post in the 70th minute, giving the 21-year-old midfielder his first Bundesliga goal.

Pizarro opened the scoring in the 29th with a volley under the goalkeeper off a cross from Bremen's winter signing, Zlatko Januzovic.

Freiburg midfielder Cedrick Makiadi equalized with a header from a corner three minutes later.

Pizarro displayed his class again when he controlled Mehmet Ekici's pass before flicking the ball with the outside of his foot into the far corner in the 47th. It was the Peruvian's 15th goal of the season.

Schmid's equalizer earned an unlikely point for his side, which remains level with Augsburg and a point behind Kaiserslautern.

Neither side was happy.

"We gave away two points, which really hurts,'' Freiburg coach Christian Streich said. "But we have to live with that.''

Bremen remains fifth after its third draw in a row.

"We're missing the necessary calm,'' Bremen coach Thomas Schaaf said.

Borussia Dortmund was the big winner from the weekend's round of games, beating Nuremberg 2-0 on Friday before watching title rivals Bayern Munich, Schalke and Borussia Moenchengladbach all drop points on Saturday.

Defending champion Dortmund leads Bayern and Schalke by two points, with Moenchengladbach a point further back.
