CHESTER, Pennsylvania (AP) -- Brian Carroll scored one goal and set up another as the Philadelphia Union cruised past the Columbus Crew 3-0 in Major League Soccer on Wednesday.

Carroll found the net in the 25th minute, followed by goals from Sheanon Williams in the 29th and Conor Casey two minutes later.

The Crew played without injured midfielder Eddie Gaven and forward Jairo Arrieta, who is on international duty with Costa Rica.

With the win, Philadelphia moves into fourth place in the Eastern Conference on 22 points, four behind leader Montreal and trailing Houston on goal difference.
