The United States captured their first Gold Cup since 2007 with a gritty 1-0 win over Panama at Soldier Field in Chicago. Brek Shea scored the winning goal for the United States in the 69th minute on a tap-in off a cross from Alejandro Bedoya that took a slight touch off of Landon Donovan on its way into the box.

The U.S. won without head coach Jurgen Klinsmann on the sidelines or in the locker room after he was suspended for an outburst in the semifinal against Honduras.
