Jonjo Shelvey beats Brad Guzan with impressive 40-yard volleyed goal

Saturday, April 26 2014 was not a great day for American goalkeepers playing abroad. Tim Howard's Everton got the day started with a 2-0 loss taht dented the club's hopes of a Champions League berth, and Aston Villa's Brad Guzan was on the receiving end of a sublime strike from Swansea City's Jonjo Shelvey.
The goal really started with a poor clearance by Ron Vlaar, but considerable credit has to go to Shelvey. The Welshman chested the ball down intelligently, then uncorked a strike so curvaceous it's actually somewhat understandable that Guzan never really gauged it properly.
