CUIABA, Brazil (AP) Arturo Vidal will start for Chile in its opening Group B match in the World Cup against Australia in Cuiaba, with the Juventus midfielder fully recovered from a knee injury.

Playmaker Jorge Valdivia is also selected in midfield behind the lively front pairing of Alexis Sanchez and Eduardo Vargas.

Tim Cahill will be the lone striker for big outsider Australia, while central midfielder Mark Bresciano is fit - as expected - after back trouble.

Chile is highly fancied to do well in Brazil after a run of impressive results over the last 18 months. Australia is the lowest-ranked team in the tournament at No. 62.

Spain and the Netherlands are the other teams in the group.
