Thursday World Cup Odds: Who's favored to win England-Uruguay?

Spain came into the World Cup as one of the favorites to win the event at 6/1, but has been eliminated in the group stage just seven days into the tournament.

Spain's elimination comes as a huge surprise and a lot of future betting money just went to the sportsbooks, but it doesn't figure to be the last surprise of the World Cup. Cameroon and Australia are also out following consecutive losses and Uruguay and England face a similar fate if they don’t win today in Group D action.

In addition to the massive Uruguay-England clash, Group C's teams play their second game on Thursday's World Cup betting schedule.

Group C: Colombia vs. Ivory Coast

Colombia is a +105 favorite on the three-way line over Ivory Coast at +260 and a draw at +250. Betting the game straight-up, the line lists Colombia as a -200 favorite over Ivory Coast (+165). The total in this game is set at 2.5 goals, according to most sportsbooks monitored by WorldCupOdds.net.

Colombia and Ivory Coast entered the tournament as the two favorites to advance out of Group C, and outright wins in their first games of group play make that scenario look even more likely.

Colombia broke down Greece's stingy defense with an impressive 3-0 victory, while Ivory Coast erased an early 0-1 deficit with two second-half goals to defeat Japan 2-1.

Three goals on Greece is no easy feat, and it suggests that Colombia is as good as was advertised leading up to the World Cup. This game will in all likelihood decide which team wins the group.

Group D: Uruguay vs. England

England is going off at +100 to beat Uruguay outright, with Uruguay paying +270 to win the game and +260 to play to a draw. On the two-way line, England is a -210 favorite over Uruguay (+170). The total is set at 2.5 goals.

What once looked like one of the toughest groups in the World Cup to predict became a lot clearer after the first week of play. England's loss to Italy and Uruguay's stunning loss to Costa Rica have put both teams into a must-win situation in this game.

Luis Suarez may not be at 100 percent, but after the debacle against Costa Rica with him on the sideline, he is expected to be inserted in the starting lineup on Thursday. Uruguay is, however, without captain and center back Diego Lugano, whose injured knee has forced manager Oscar Tabarez to shuffle his back line.

Group C: Japan vs. Greece

Japan is a -190 favorite on the pick'em line over Greece at +160. On the three-way line, Japan is +110 while Greece is +260 and the draw is +240. The total is set at 2.5 goals, with the Under favored at -145 over the Over (+120).

Greece's attack leaves plenty to be desired, but the team has been known in recent years to be capable of shutting down just about any opposing offense. Was the 0-3 loss to Colombia a fluke, or will Japan also be able to solve this defense?

Japan's technically sound game should make it difficult on Greece to score, making it likely that goals could be hard to come by in the game if Greece gets things back on track defensively.
