Varane and 3 other players sit out France training

RIBEIRAO PRETO, Brazil (AP) France center half Raphael Varane missed Sunday's training because of gastroenteritis, while three other players also sat out the team session.

Center half Mamadou Sakho is nursing a sore thigh after limping off during the second half of Friday's 5-2 win against Switzerland. The Liverpool defender had some treatment and then did light jogging away from the rest of the squad with the team physio.

Third-choice center back Laurent Koscielny and midfielder Paul Pogba were both rested for the afternoon session as a precautionary measure. Koscielny has been hindered by tendinitis in his Achilles in recent weeks, although he replaced Sakho against the Swiss.

France tops Group E and plays its final game against Ecuador in Rio on Wednesday.
