Report: Manchester United's Patrice Evra requests Juventus transfer

Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has asked the club to allow him to transfer to Serie A's Juventus, BBC Sport's Simon Stone reports.

He signed a one-year deal in May to remain with United after management triggered a clause in his contract that compelled him to re-sign. While Evra has not filed a formal transfer request with United, he has spoken with team officials about the move, according to Stone.

The Telegraph reportedJuventus would pay United £2 million for the transfer and has offered Evra a two-year contract.

Evra joined United in 2006 and has played in 379 matches for the club. He has been part of five Premier League champion teams in addition to winning the 2008 Champions League title while at United.

As a member of the French National Team, Evra was captain of the 2010 squad that boycotted training temporarily in protest of Nicolas Anelka's expulsion from the team. He played in four of France's five matches during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil before the team lost to Germany in the quarterfinals.

After finishing seventh in the Premier League last season, United replaced manager David Moyes with Louis van Gaal.
