Porto fights back for 2-2 draw over displaced Shakhtar Donetsk

LVIV, Ukraine (AP) — Jackson Martinez scored twice in the dying minutes as FC Porto salvaged a dramatic 2-2 draw with Shakhtar Donetsk in a Champions League Group H match on Tuesday.

Porto, still unbeaten in all competitions this season, took the lead in the group with four points, one clear of BATE Borisov.

Martinez struck again from close range off Cristian Tello's pass with only seconds of stoppage time remaining.

In the first half, Porto was awarded a penalty when Olexandr Kucher tripped Yacine Brahimi, who had his spot-kick saved by Shakhtar goalkeeper Andriy Pyatov.

Teixeira broke the deadlock on 52 minutes with a simple finish from close range after Kucher took the ball from Porto's Oliver Torres.

Shakhtar doubled the lead in the 85th when Luiz Adriano tapped in at the far post to finish a move created by three of his fellow Brazilians.

The match was played at Arena Lviv in western Ukraine, more than 1,000 kilometers (620 miles) from Shakhtar's home city of Donetsk, which is held by pro-Russian rebels.

During the conflict, the club's Donbass Arena has been shelled and its Donetsk headquarters raided by armed men.

Despite the distance and the broad cultural differences between mostly Ukrainian-speaking Lviv and mostly Russian-speaking Donetsk, Tuesday's match attracted a capacity crowd at Arena Lviv, a Euro 2012 venue.

The crowd of around 34,000 wore a mix of Shakhtar and Ukrainian national colors and was passionate throughout the Donetsk club's first home European game since the conflict in Ukraine began.
