Alan Pardew is set to leave his position as manager of Newcastle United to take the job at Crystal Palace, according to The Guardian.

Newcastle announced Monday that Crystal Palace made a "formal approach" requesting permission to speak to Pardew about its vacant managerial position. The team also announced that Pardew would not be at training on Tuesday.

Crystal Palace fired manager Neil Warnock on Saturday after four months in the position.

Pardew will sign a four-year contract with Palace, according to The Guardian. According to the report, the 52-year-old had "grown increasingly frustrated at his lack of influence in terms of transfer policy at St James’ Park, where the manager’s input is minimal and the chief scout, Graham Carr, effectively operates as a director of football."

Pardew spent more than four years as a player at Palace.

Newcastle is currently in 10th place in the Premier League with 26 points, while Crystal Palace is No. 18, with 16 points.
