After a successful appeal, Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng's three-game suspension has been reduced to two games, the German Football Federation announced Monday

Boateng was sent off in the 17th minute of Bayern's 1-1 draw against Schalke on Feb. 3. He was given a red card after a strong challenge in the penalty area on Schalke's Sidney Sam.

Werder Bremen wins fourth straight, 2-1 over Leverkusen

Boateng missed this weekend's match against Stuttgart and will sit out for an upcoming match against Hamburger SV before returning to the lineup.

Bayern Munich (15-4-1) currently sits atop the Bundesliga table with 49 points. The club is eight points clear of second-place VfLWolfsburg.
