Manchester United is targeting Tottenham striker Harry Kane as the club is preparing to spend big during the summer transfer season, reportsThe Daily Mail

Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal has said he is looking to upgrade the squad by possibly bringing in a forward, two defenders and a central midfielder.

“We expect to be active again during the window," Ed Woodward, Manchester United's executive vice-chairman. “The squad will be absolutely deep enough and ready to challenge on all fronts next year and that involves ins and outs in the summer."

Manchester United can expect to pay upwards of $70 million for Kane.

The Press Association reported that Tottenham will resist any bids for their Kane this summer.

Kane signed a new five-and-a-half-year deal with Tottenham in February and is featured in promotional shots for club’s new home kit for next season.

The 21-year-old Kane, who was a finalist for PFA Player of the Year, has scored 30 goals this season across all competitions, including tallying 20 goals in the Premier League.
