Two cousins of Los Angeles Galaxy forward Robbie Keane have died after a sewer accident, the team announced on Friday.

Alan and Stephen Harris were overcome with toxic fumes while inspecting underground pipes in Dublin, Ireland. Alan fell into a pit and was aided by Stephen, but was pronounced dead by first responders. Stephen was in critical condition before being pronounced dead as well on Friday.

Keane issued statements on Facebook following the death of each of the men.

After Allen's death, he wrote, “As you can imagine it’s been a very difficult time for our family. May Alan RIP and we continue to pray for Stephen. Thanks everyone for your kind messages and support.”

Following Stephen's death, Keane wrote, “With a heavy heart I write this. May Stephen rest in peace. Once again I would like to thank you all for your kind messages and the love and support you have shown my family.”

Keane is currently playing for the Republic of Ireland and manager Martin O’Neill said it is up to Keane whether he plays in Saturday's Euro 2016 qualifier against Scotland.
