SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Maximiliano Urruti scored on a bicycle kick early in the second half and FC Dallas beat the San Jose Earthquakes 1–0 on Friday night.

FC Dallas (11-5-4) won its third straight game to remain atop the Western Conference. San Jose (5-6-7) had its winless streak extended to seven games.

In the 51st minute, Michael Barrios ran down a chipped cross, played it in front of goal and after a failed clearance, Urruti put it into the net with an acrobatic finish.

Urruti ran on a through ball in the 19th minute but his breakaway shot deflected off David Bingham’s hands and hit the post.

San Jose had two good scoring chances in the first half on set plays. Aníbal Godoy curled a free kick around the wall in the sixth minute, but Chris Seitz went to his right to deflect it away. Godoy’s free kick in the 32nd minute hit off the crossbar.

Dynamo 0, Orlando City 0

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Tyler Deric had his fourth shutout of the season and the Houston Dynamo tied Orlando City 0–0 on Friday night.

Orlando City (4-4-9) was held scoreless for a second straight game and has played to a draw in four of its last six games.

The teams combined for just four shots on goal, but the limited scoring chances picked up in the final minutes.

Giles Barnes hit the post on a breakaway in the 89th minute for Houston (4-8-6) and on Orlando’s counterattack, Julio Baptista sailed a shot over the crossbar. In the 90th, Cyle Larin intercepted a defensive header to the goalkeeper but Deric came out of his area to knock it away.

On Wednesday, Orlando City fired coach Adrian Heath, who had been with the club since it began in Austin, Texas, in 2008.

The match was delayed slightly before the opening whistle due to poor weather.
