There's not been much transfer activity around Anfield in this window, but another youngster looks set to be leaving the club, albeit on a temporary basis.

The Daily Mail has reported that Connor Randall could be in line to join Sky Bet Championship Barnsley on loan for the remainder of the season, with the Tykes looking to replace James Bree who signed for Aston Villa.

The 21-year-old right back will be desperate for some first team opportunities, with Jurgen Klopp only selecting Randall for his first start of the season in Saturday's shock 2-1 defeat at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the fourth round of the Emirates FA Cup.

Randall has dropped behind Trent Alexander-Arnold in the role of Nathaniel Clyne's deputy for the Reds and it remains to be seen whether the Merseyside local has a future at the club whatsoever.

Nonetheless, the opportunity to play for a team that is currently 7th in the second tier should be snatched at, especially since Randall's last loan spell away from Liverpool was a one month stint with Shrewsbury Town, whom his sole appearance came as a 90th minute substitution.

Neither club has confirmed the well reported news, but it seems like a beneficial deal for both sets of parties.
