Journalist Claims Newcastle Are Closing in on Norwich's Jacob Murphy With £12m Move Imminent
Newcastle United are reportedly closing in on a reported £12m deal for Norwich City forward Jacob Murphy.
Journalist Kasper Wikestad, of Norway's largest television broadcaster TV2, has claimed on his Twitter account that 22-year-old Murphy is set to trade the Championship for the Premier League on a three-year deal.
The tweet translated reads: “Appears that Jacob Murphy becomes Newcastle player for around £12 mill. Steep curve. League One, Championship, the Premier League in three seasons.”
The winger is said to be a rising star within English football and would seemingly be a prospect of the future for the Magpies who could see his development rise exponentially under the tutelage of Rafa Benitez.

Murphy has pace to burn but has also shown inconsistency expected in a developing player, but his 37 league appearances for the Canaries last season returned eight goals and eight assists in his debut campaign in England's second division.
The season previous saw the 22-year-old loaned to League One side Coventry City, where he made 42 appearances, but Wikestad has claimed a move to the top division is a 'steep curve' for the young winger.
Newcastle have seemingly identified Murphy as a top target this summer and has reportedly been subject to a number of bids from the club this summer, as previous reports said the Mapgies £8m bid for Murphy had been rejected and it now seems as though an improved offer has been accepted by Norwich.
