Liverpool's Joe Gomez is attracting interest from Brighton this summer, as a potential loan deal is thought to be the cards.

However, according to the Daily Mail, Liverpool will not allow their young defender to leave Anfield until being fully assessed by Jurgen Klopp during pre-season preparations.

Gomez has battled-back to fitness after suffering a very serious anterior cruciate ligament injury and is also interesting David Wagner's Huddersfield Town as a potential loanee. The 20-year-old  is determined to make an impression on Klopp though, before a deal with any club materialises.

This season, he has made three FA Cup appearances after returning to the first team squad in January and is expected to heavily feature on the Reds' summer tour to enable manager Klopp to assess him properly in terms of how he his progressing.

Liverpool are short of defensive options at present, and the talented Gomez has made a decent impression on fans and coaches alike since his arrival from Charlton Athletic in 2015 under Brendan Rodgers, and can cover both the centre-back and full-back positions.

Brighton are currently in the process of building a team that they will hope see them survive the trials of the Premier League next season, wishing to add Gomez to a list of completed deals that already includes goalkeeper Maty Ryan, defender Josh Kerr and midfielder Pascal Gross.
