Paris Saint-Germain Enter Race to Sign Tottenham Target Juan Foyth From Estudiantes
Paris Saint-Germain have joined the race to sign Tottenham target Juan Foyth from Argentine club Estudiantes.
The Evening Standard have reported that the Ligue 1 side are prepared to pay the £8m asking price for the 19-year-old defender up front.
Spurs reportedly held discussions with Estudiantes over a potential transfer last week and Foyth was believed to be keen to move to London.
Reports in Argentina have claimed that Tottenham's offer was an initial £5.4m, with a further £2.6m dependant appearances and performance.
The North London club looked favourites to secure Foyth's transfer, but PSG look to have jeopardised the proposed deal.
The Argentina under-20 international has also reportedly attracted interest from Serie A clubs Inter Milan and Roma.
Foyth was part of the Argentina squad at the Under-20 World Cup that were eliminated by eventual winners England.
Though he has only made eight appearances for Estudiantes senior team, Tottenham have identified the youngster as a potential star of the future.
Asked about his future destination earlier this month, Foyth said: “I like competitive leagues more than anything. I always watch the English, Italian and Spanish leagues.”
With PSG now considered favourites to secure the signing of Foyth, Spurs boss Pochettino may now be forced to look elsewhere for his first addition of the summer.
