West Ham look set to land Javier Hernandez this summer after the player is understood to have told reporters about his imminent move to the London Stadium this summer.

ESPN claimed on Twitter that the Bayer Leverkusen forward is set to seal his well-reported move to West Ham after admitting to the transfer himself - although evidence of this remains scarce.

The news comes following reports from Bild which suggests a contract has been agreed upon between the player and the Hammers, with only the final transfer fee needed to be agreed upon between the two clubs.

With West Ham said to be offering €16m, whilst the German club want at least €20m - despite the 29-year-old having a £13m release clause in his contract.

Hernandez will provide significant experience and talent within the Hammers forward line after scoring 39 goals in 76 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit.

It has been reported that the 29-year-old was interested in a move back to the Premier League, two-years since his departure. The Mexico international left Manchester United in 2015, following 59 goals in 157 matches for the Red Devils.

If a move is signed and delivered, Hernandez could be set to make his maiden appearance for West Ham against his former employers, United, on the Premier League's opening weekend at Old Trafford on August 13.
