Roma Remain Keen on Man City Defender But Will Be Patient for Them to Sign Replacement
Roma are still keen on signing Manchester City defender Aleksandar Kolarov, and will be patient with their English counterparts as they try to complete their move for Benjamin Mendy.
Kolarov was first linked with the Serie A runners-up on Tuesday, and it appears there could be some substance to the story.
Italian journalist and 'transfer expert' Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed, via his official website, that Roma are prepared to wait for City to sign Monaco left-back Mendy, before stepping up their pursuit of the Serbian.
Mendy is widely expected to sign for the Citizens this summer, and recently took to Instagram to share a cryptic photo of him pointing into the distance whilst wearing Union Jack shorts.
The Frenchman looks set to come in and be the new first choice left-back at the Etihad, meaning Kolarov's days could well be numbered, especially given that the club have also been linked with Southampton star Ryan Bertrand.
The 31-year-old has enjoyed a successful seven-year spell at City so far, winning the Premier League twice and claiming two League Cups and one FA Cup.
Roma are on the lookout for a new left-back following the departure of Mario Rui to Napoli, and they are also apparently looking at Antonio Barreca of Torino.
