Blackpool look poised to complete the loan signing of highly rated Newcastle youngster Sean Longstaff.

Longstaff is the most recent player to come through the youth ranks at St James' Park and is highly regarded within the club.

However, Longstaff has a long way to go before breaking into the Newcastle first team. According to HITC Sport, manager Rafa Benitez feels it would be more beneficial for him to go out on loan again next season rather than playing youth development football.

The 19-year-old had an impressive loan spell at Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock last season where he made 17 appearances and scored three goals, helping the club avoid relegation. The staff at Rugby Park have also been keen to get Longstaff back to the club this summer.

Interest in Longstaff has been high with a number of clubs enquiring about the availability of the midfielder ahead of the new season. Yet, it looks like Blackpool have moved fastest in order to secure the talented youngster.

Blackpool are preparing for life back in League One and manager Gary Bowyer, who is a big fan of Longstaff, sees the midfielder playing a key part in next seasons efforts.

The loan move to Bloomfield Road would be for an initial six months giving Newcastle the opportunity to consider their options on what to do with the player in January.
