David de Gea's potential move to Real Madrid has been an ongoing transfer saga for the last few seasons. The Spanish international was in action for Manchester United against Los Blancos when the two sides met in a pre-season friendly that was eventually decided on penalties.

If there was any doubt before the game about De Gea's commitment to Manchester United, the 26-year-old's reaction to Jesse Lingard's opening goal helped ease rumours that the Spaniard would be making a move to the Santiago Bernabéu in the near future.

The Manchester United goalkeeper was pictured after the game in conversation with three Real Madrid players, sparking an immediate response on social media.

Although the prospect of Madrid's trio trying to convince De Gea of a summer move immediately after the final whistle would be an interesting negotiating tactic from Madrid president Florentino Pérez, it would appear that the conversation was nothing more than a catch up with some of his Spanish national teammates.

The fixture was eventually decided with a penalty shootout after Brazilian midfielder Casemiro cancelled out Lingard's opener during the 90 minutes.

With United eventually winning 2-1 via the spot kicks, the quality of the penalty taking was in question following the game with just 30% of the penalties finding the back of the net during the shootout.
