Championship side Reading FC have become the first club to show a kit launch in virtual reality.

The Biscuitmen announced the release of their 2017/18 home and away kits, as well as the goalkeeper strip, in style, also allowing 100 season ticket holders the opportunity to view the proceedings from the Directors' Box at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday.

The club partnered with Virtual Reality company Gate Reality to make the whole thing possible. And former players, including the likes of Ady Williams and Mikele Leigeterwood, weighed in with their thoughts on the uniform they once donned as athletes.

The new kits, manufactured by sportswear company PUMA boast several novel features such as lightweight polyester, improved fit and range of motion and a stylised rib collar.

The home strip comes with the traditional blue and white hoops, while the away threads are bright orange, possibly intended to dazzle opponents.

"As a club we are always exploring new ways to engage with our supporters, and show that we are for the fans," said Adam Benson, the club's Commercial Director.

"We try to push the boundaries of what is possible in order to build an even closer bond between the club and its fans.

"With the help of Gate Reality and the use of virtual reality to launch the kit, we have placed loyal fans in the dressing room with the squad to experience the kit reveal alongside some of their heroes."
