Premier League newcomers Brighton have secured the signing of promising Chelsea player Izzy Brown on a season-long loan deal.

The 20-year-old spent last season on loan at both Rotherham United and Huddersfield Town, who reportedly wanted to take the youngster back on loan for 2017/18.

Brown, who has also signed a new deal with the Blues, is set to get straight down to action with the Seagulls by featuring in a pre-season friendly against Southend on Tuesday evening, as confirmed by the club's official site.

The FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth League winner made his senior debut for the club back in May 2015 but, as with many of the young stars at Stamford Bridge, has so far failed to challenge for a regular first team spot.

Manager Chris Hughton said: "The natural progression for Izzy, having enjoyed such a successful season in the Championship last season, was to step up to the Premier League - and we are delighted he will be doing that with us, here at Brighton.

"He is a player with great potential and will bring a different dimension to our attacking options for the season ahead, alongside our existing strikers."
