Liverpool are weighing up a transfer bid for Fortuna Sittard centre-back Perr Schuurs.

As reported by The Metro, the Reds are not alone in their interest in the 17-year-old, with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund known to be making overtures for the player.

Schuurs previously enjoyed a successful trial with Liverpool back in May, and hugely impressed the Reds'  youth coaches, who sent positive feedback up the hierarchy.

Understandably given his Dutch origins, Ajax and PSV Eindhoven are also understood to be expressing an interest in the highly-rated youngster.

The Merseyside outfit have spent the last few months scouring the market for defensive reinforcements, with Schuurs’ compatriot Virgil van Dijk the club’s priority target earlier in the summer

However, Liverpool were forced to issue en embarrassing official apology to Southampton after making an illegal approach for tthe £60m rated star.

However, they could be back in for the star in the coming days, as their defensive frailties have been continually exposed at the start of this new season.
