Watford Rumoured to Be Interested in Bayer Leverkusen Defender Aleksander Dragovic

Watford have been linked with signing Bayer Leverkusen centre defender Aleksander Dragovic, as the transfer deadline rapidly approaches.

Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio, has reported that the much sought after Austrian is set to leave the Bundesliga side and join the Hornets.

The 26-year-old only joined Leverkusen last summer but has been tracked by Roma and Olympiakos this summer, but Marco Silva's side have moved into pole position and are set to make a bid for the defender.

He is now set to leave the BayArena after only 19 appearances and has been capped 54 times for his country featuring in their disappointing Euro 2016 campaign where he was sent off and missed a penalty as they finished bottom of their group.

Formerly of Dynamo Kiev and Basel, the defender has tasted success at both clubs and would fit in perfectly at Vicarage Road as Silva looks to bolster his backline following the erratic form of Miguel Britos and would see him link up with fellow Austrian Sebastian Prodl.

If a move for Dragovic fails to materialise, the Hornets may choose to go for Croatian defender Jozo Simunovic from Celtic.

The 23-year-old is rated at £9m by his side and has been linked with Premier League new-boys Huddersfield and Burnley in recent weeks, but a move away from Celtic Park seems unlikely at this time.
