Tottenham Hotspur striker and talisman Harry Kane has been named Premier League Player of the Month for September after a string of stunning performances.

It is the fifth time he has won the coveted monthly prize in his career to date after previous accolades in February 2017, March 2016, February 2015 and January 2015. He is tied with Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie on five, while only Steven Gerrard (6) has ever won more.

Kane, whose 12th international goal earlier this month also sealed England's automatic place at next summer's World Cup, inspired Spurs to three wins in four games during September.

He began the month with a brace as Spurs crushed Everton 3-0 at Goodison Park. The team as a whole fired blanks against Swansea in the following game, but Kane was back at it a week later when he netted another brace in a 3-2 away win against West Ham.

The home-grown hero then bagged his third double of the month in a 4-0 win against Huddersfield that propelled Spurs into third place ahead of the October international break.

The 24-year-old will be hoping to continue that incredible level of form when Spurs host Bournemouth at Wembley on Saturday, still looking to win their first Premier League game of the season at their temporary 'home'.
