Ilkay Gundogan has taken to Instagram to reassure Manchester City fans that he is OK following their Carabao Cup game with Wolves on Tuesday.

Manager Pep Guardiola had said in the aftermath of the penalty shootout victory that the German had a slight injury concern, but it appears to be nothing serious as confirmed by the player himself.

It will make for a huge relief to City supporters, who were unable to see Gundogan play for the best part of nine months after he sustained a cruciate knee injury last December against Watford.

The midfield maestro was reduced to just sixteen appearances last season as a result, but came back a few weeks into the 2017/18 season and has been making cameo appearances from the substitutes' bench.

The 2016 summer signing from Borussia Dortmund was given a rare start against Championship side Wolves in the Carabao Cup and came through 120 minutes, which will be encouraging for everyone.

The star will be hoping to stay fit now to try and push to get back into the starting XI, which will be no easy feat given how well Fernandinho, Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva are playing.
