Arsenal Legend Martin Keown believes Aaron Ramsey is confident and ready to take over the reigns in the red side of London.

With much speculation over the future of teammates Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, Arsenal may lose two of their most prized assets by the end of the season.

Arsenal have failed to agree on contract extensions from the unsettled duo. On the back of this, both have been linked with moves out of the Emirates, more specifically to the two Manchester clubs.

In a season that began with inconsistent performances from the duo, Ramsey has seemingly thrived under his role as leader, establishing himself as a standout performer.

Ramsey has scored three goals and has made two assists in nine appearances in the Premier League this season, for the North London side.

The potential departure of Ozil and Sanchez is looking more and more imminent with the possibility of them both leaving for free in the summer.

Ex-Arsenal defender Martin Keown has noticed Wenger's decision put more faith in Ramsay to be the star man going forward.

The Englishman told the Daily mail: “Ramsey clearly thinks he can be Arsenal’s main man.

“Arsene Wenger does not restrict Ramsey. He has a licence to roam and he turns the numbers in Arsenal’s favour when they attack, giving them a front four.”

Ramsay has proven before that he has what it takes to lead Arsenal, with his best season coming in 2013/14 where he tallied 18 goals to go along with nine assists in all competitions for the gunners, including a late winner in the FA Cup Final.

The red half of North London have claimed the FA Cup for three of the past four years, whereas they have not claimed the league title since 2004.
