Report: David Moyes Targets Lamine Kone as Part of West Ham Makeover
David Moyes has apparently singled out Sunderland defender Lamine Kone as one of his transfer targets for when the January window opens.
The Mirror has reported that Moyes wants Lamine Kone to bolster his defensive options for the second half of the season, but West Ham fans are questioning his ability seeing as he is one of the Sunderland players who was heavily criticised when the Black Cats got relegated under Moyes last season.
In that season Moyes' Sunderland side got relegated with just 24 points, with 26 of their 38 games in the Premier League season ending in defeat. Kone was a part of the league's second worst defence last season, having conceded 69 goals. On top of this, he is now a part of the Championship's worst back line, with Sunderland already conceding 31 goals in the 2017/18 season.
It is stats like these that are causing worry amongst West Ham fans, who feel that their form this season will never improve if they add defenders from sides that are notoriously poor defensively. West Ham themselves already have the worst defensive record in the Premier League, having conceded 23 goals in 11 matches.
West Ham's first game back after the international break will be against Marco Silva's Watford, and the Hornets have been in good form so far this season. This match will be a good gauge for Moyes to find out what needs to be improved and altered for the coming months, going up against physical players in the form of Deeney and Doucoure.
