Manchester United are ready to entertain bids for full-back Matteo Darmian, with Napoli rumoured to be keen on signing him in January.

The Italian is under contract until 2020 but seems unlikely to see that out in its entirety after failing to live up to his billing so far at Old Trafford.

The £12.7m signing from Torino in 2015 has struggling to adapt to English football, and was disappointing again for the Red Devils in their shock defeat to Bristol City in the Carabao Cup on Wedneday.

As reported by Sky Sports, Jose Mourinho is now ready to sanction his sale, with Serie A title challengers Napoli keen to end his Old Trafford nightmare.

The Partenopei are a bit light at the moment after Faouzi Ghoulam's injury, and see Darmian as cover for the crocked Algerian having played left-back many times in his career.

Darmian, who can also play right-back, has failed to establish himself as a regular starter with Antonio Valencia, Marcos Rojo, Daley Blind and even Luke Shaw ahead of him in the pecking order.

Wednesday's game against Bristol City saw him make only his fourth appearance of the season, and the player could well return to Serie A with Napoli, who are in the thick of a title challenge alongside Inter and Juventus.
