The wife and agent of Inter striker Mauro Icardi has demanded that the Argentina international is reappointed as the club's captain, if they ever want him to play for the Nerazzurri again.

Wanda Nara, a pantomime villain whenever Icardi is in the news, has been held up as one of the main causes of the fractious relationship between Inter's hierarchy and the striker following their most recent round of contract talks.

It's already been made clear that Icardi has no intentions of leaving San Siro despite interest from elsewhere, including from Juventus who have already been in contact with Inter over a potential move.

However, La Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Nara has demanded the club restores Icardi's position as captain if they want him to continue playing for the Nerazzurri.

She has also said that Icardi deserves an apology from the club, having given the armband to veteran goalkeeper Samir Handanović last week.

The Argentine, who turned 26 on Tuesday, has been out of action for two games on the bounce now with Inter, missing their Europa League match against Rapid Wien and a narrow 2-1 win over Sampdoria where all three goals were scored within five second-half minutes.

Icardi is also expected to miss Inter's return leg against Austrian giants Rapid Wien later this week, alongside Keita Baldé Diao, and their upcoming Serie A match on the road to Fiorentina as a result of this dispute.

Italian giants Juventus are not the only side who are keeping up with developments in Milan, as two clubs from the Premier League are also considering a move for Icardi once the transfer window opens at the end of the season.

Manchester United are hopeful of replacing Romelu Lukaku with Icardi as the spearhead of their attack next season, a deal which the Nerazzurri have also considered, while Chelsea are weighing up another high-profile raid in Serie A.
