Aston Villa have agreed to a club-record £22.5m deal to sign Wesley Moraes from Club Brugge.

The Brazilian striker has been on the radar of a number of clubs across Europe after his displays for the Belgian outfit during 2018/19, where he was able to register an impressive 17 goals and 10 assists in all competitions.

After the 22-year-old was previously linked with a move to Newcastle, Aston Villa announced a deal to sign the forward, "subject to a work permit and international clearance."

The reported price is not only the highest transfer fee Aston Villa have ever forked out, but it also matches the previous record for a player from the Jupiler Pro League - matching the fee Monaco paid to snap up Youri Tielemans in 2017.

Wesley will become Villa's third permanent signing of the summer transfer window following their promotion back to the Premier League, after the recent acquisitions of Jota and Anwar El-Ghazi.
