According to the Washington Post's Steven Goff, the National Women’s Soccer League is planning to reopen training camps on May 16.The league has been on hold since mid-March but it now appears that plans are in place for the season to return to normalcy. Orlando Pride spokeswoman Jackie Maynard made a statement regarding the latest developments, “As May 16 is the day the moratorium ends, that would be the date our staff is currently planning for return to training (in whatever form that may be). Should the date get moved back, we would then move our anticipated return-to-training date.” Brooke Elby, co-executive director of the NWSL Players Association had this to say on the matter, “I don’t think anyone knows what this is going to look like. We can have aspirations, but we won’t know until we get there. We can’t speculate because it could change in the next hour or in the next day.” NWSL appears to be following in the steps of the NBA which plans to allow players to begin voluntary workouts at team facilities on May 8th.
