The men will take to the ice for the first time at World Championships on Thursday as they compete in the short program with an eye on a podium spot.

The 2023 ISU world figure skating championships will continue on Thursday in Montreal, Canada. The men will take to the ice on Thursday morning as they compete in the short program with the hopes of getting ahead on their first day of competition and that much closer to a podium position when the championships come to a close. Japan's Uno Shoma will try to defend his world championships after winning in 2022 and 2023. American Ilia Malinin could give Shoma a run for his money on Thursday as the first man or woman to have landed a quadruple axle which is now a staple in his routines, but last year, Malinin finished in third after struggling with the skill.
