How to Watch Brentford vs. Southampton: Stream 2022-23 Premier League Live, TV Channel in Canada

Relegation-threatened Southampton heads to Brentford in the hopes of jumpstarting its quest for Premier League survival.

Thomas Frank’s Brentford is quietly building one of the more impressive unbeaten streaks in the Premier League and hosts Southampton on Saturday looking to go nine unbeaten in England’s top flight. The west Londoners occupy eighth in the standings and preside above both Liverpool and Chelsea as they dream of qualifying for European soccer for the first time in their history, with a single point between them and sixth place as things stand. Southampton’s prospects look decidedly more dim, meanwhile, as the south-coast outfit hopes a second straight away win in the league will lift them outside the relegation zone.

The Saints enter this week still sat bottom of the Premier League pile, though the club’s board has dipped into its pockets this winter in an attempt to stop the rot.

Southampton has spent in excess of $65 million over the past month to recruit the kind of players that could reverse their fortunes, strengthening the team’s attack in particular.

And Saturday’s trip to London could stage debuts for former Genk striker Paul Onuachu and Ghana winger Kamaldeen Sulemana, a deadline-day signing from Rennes who cost more than $25 million:

Nathan Jones’ side exited the League Cup semi-finals on Tuesday following a second straight defeat to Newcastle United, bowing out of the competition following a 3-1 aggregate loss.

It wasn’t long ago that the Saints were starting to inspire with a run of three straight wins under Jones—which included a 2-0 League Cup result over Manchester City—but it’s league form the club covets most in the interest of staying up.

It just so happens that nine of the club’s 15 points so far this season have been accumulated away from home. However, Brentford have in turn proved to be one of the least porous hosts in the Premier League, losing just one of their 10 league fixtures at the Gtech Community Stadium so far this term.

Frank’s flyers didn’t dip into the winter market but will be relying on the likes of Ivan Toney and Bryan Mbeumo to keep producing the goods in attack, hopeful that a third straight home win will fire them above Fulham and Brighton into sixth.

Regional restrictions may apply.
