Last season Seattle finished second in the Western Conference, three points behind St. Louis, for their sixth second-place finish in the last seven years. The two-time MLS Cup Champs reached the final four times in five seasons but have failed to advance to the conference finals in three consecutive seasons.

Colorado has missed the playoffs each of the last two seasons after claiming the top seed in the west in 2021 before being bounced in the quarterfinals by Portland.

Twenty-two-year-old Cole Bassett will play in his 100th MLS match with Colorado today having posted 20 goals over his five-plus seasons with the club. Bassett, a Colorado native, posted a career-high six goals last season for the Rapids after spending a year and a half playing with Dutch side Fortuna Sittard on loan.
