Top 5 Underachievers in Playoffs
Peyton Manning
Manning is 4-6 in the playoffs and the losses haven't been pretty. His Colts fell 41-0 to the Jets in 2002, he threw four picks against the Patriots in 2003, he couldn't get anything done in a 2004 playoff loss at New England and he came up flat last year against Pittsburgh.
Marty Schottenheimer
Schottenheimer is fifth on the NFL's all-time wins list, but he has a 5-12 postseason record with the Browns, Chiefs and Chargers and hasn't won a playoff game since 1993. There are even rumors that if he doesn't reach his first Super Bowl this season, he'll be fired.
Tony Dungy
He has reached the postseason eight times as a head coach, but Dungy has failed to reach the Super Bowl with very good teams in Tampa Bay and Indianapolis. Critics, including former Colts kicker Mike Vanderjagt, have suggested Dungy doesn't have the killer instinct to win big games.
Mike Brown
In this case, Brown will take the bullet for the entire Bears' secondary. In their two playoff games this decade, Chicago's defensive backs have totally let them down. Last year, Brown & Co. were schooled by Carolina's Steve Smith in a 29-21 loss. In 2001, the Eagles moved the ball at will against the Bears' vaunted D in a 33-19 Chicago loss.
Marvin Harrison
Harrison is one of the most prolific regular-season receivers in NFL history, but he has disappeared in the postseason. He has just two touchdowns and one game with over 75 yards receiving in 11 postseason games.
