World Cup leader Dukurs wins skeleton at St. Moritz

ST. MORITZ, Switzerland (AP) Martins Dukurs of Latvia secured his 35th win on the skeleton World Cup on Friday, before Janine Flock got a first-ever win for an Austrian woman.

Dukurs was fastest in both runs to get his fifth win in six races and extend his lead in the overall standings.

Flock defended her first-run advantage to close in on overall standings leader Tina Hermann of Germany, who placed fifth Friday.

Dukurs was 0.60 seconds faster than Yun Sungbin of South Korea, who took a career-best second place on the Olympia course.

Third-place Nikita Tregybov of Russia was 1.19 back for his first podium finish, at age 19.

Dukurs, the Olympic silver medalist, has 1,110 World Cup points, 136 ahead of his brother Tomass, who placed fifth. Axel Jungk of Germany was third overall after placing sixth.

Austria sealed its first women's success when Flock was just 0.09 seconds faster than junior world champion Elisabeth Vathje of Canada.

Laura Deas of Britain was third, trailing 0.24 behind Flocks' two-run time of 2 minutes, 20.34 seconds.

Hermann leads Flock by only 15 points with three races remaining.
