Germany's Freund wins ski jump World Cup for 3rd win

WILLINGEN, Germany (AP) Severin Freund of Germany won a World Cup ski jump event for his third victory of the season on Sunday.

The ski flying world champion soared 149.5 meters for the day's longest jump with his first effort and then 146 with his second to gain a total of 270.3 points - just one ahead of Norway's Rune Velta, who had jumps of 145 and 143 meters.

Roman Koudelka of the Czech Republic was third with jumps of 146 and 139 for 252.4 points.

Stefan Kraft was sixth and maintained his overall lead. The Austrian has 1,083 points, ahead of Slovenia's Peter Prevc on 1,054. Koudelka has 916, three more than Freund with 11 events remaining.
