SE Louisiana, ex- volleyball coach sanctioned

HAMMOND, La. (AP) Southeastern Louisiana's volleyball team will be on probation through 2018 and fined $5,000 because a former volleyball coach was found to have lied to NCAA enforcement staff.

In a ruling released Thursday, the NCAA says the former coach falsely denied that his volunteer assistant gave impermissible offseason instruction to team members and incoming freshmen.

Geno Frugoli is not named in the report, but was the Lions' head coach when the violations occurred.

The report says staff also arranged for incoming players to stay with current players for free during a 2013 volleyball camp.

The NCAA says if the ex-Lions coach is hired by another member school during the next two years, his evaluation days will be limited and he'll be suspended from the first 30 percent of regular competitions.
