Maglione elected interim president of PASO

MIAMI (AP) Julio Cesar Maglione will complete the late Mario Vazquez Rana's term as president of the Pan American Sports Organization.

Maglione was elected by acclamation following a recommendation by PASO's executive committee.

The 79-year-old Uruguayan is head of swimming world body FINA and a member of the International Olympic Committee.

Rana died Feb. 8 at age 82.
