OCEANSIDE, Calif. (AP) Normal shark rules will be in place for the largest women's surfing contest in the world, the World Surf League 6-Star Paul Mitchell Supergirl Pro at Oceanside Pier this weekend.

Organizers say they're not worried about an attack, but there is heightened awareness after Mick Fanning of Australia fought off a shark attack during a televised contest in South Africa.

Brian Robbins, tour manager for WSL North America, said there are rules for stopping and restarting a contest if there is a shark sighting. Ultimately, he said, the tour defers to lifeguards on when it would be safe to resume a contest if there is a sighting.

The Paul Mitchell Supergirl Pro is the lone women's WSL qualifying event scheduled in the United States in 2015.
