SOUTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) Police say a car in southern New Jersey has collided head-on with a school bus carrying a high school swim team, killing the two men in the car.

No students were seriously injured in the crash, which occurred around 5 p.m. Tuesday at Pemberton and Ridge roads in Southampton Township.

New Jersey State Police say the driver and passenger in the car died at the scene. Their identities were not immediately released.

Police say 20 students from Lenape High School were on the bus. Eight students and one adult were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Sgt. Joseph Little tells Philly.com the car was ''traveling at a high rate of speed and may have been passing other cars.''

The school is in Medford, about 20 miles east of Philadelphia.
